CTV Ecosystem Explained: TV OS, FAST & Programmatic Advertising

Understand how the CTV ecosystem connects TV OS, FAST platforms, content, programmatic advertising and audiences beyond traditional TV.

Introduction

There used to be a notion that owning the TV screen means you are controlling the gateway to television.
In-fact, that gateway is now becoming software or even AI for instance.
A TV OS can influence discovery, recommendations, app distribution, advertising and the viewing experience. But as India's traditional TV distribution model contracts, the bigger question is no longer simply who owns the screen. But who connects the layers around it.
There was a drop seen in the graph of DTH subscribers from (56.92 million to 49.05 million) in 2025-2026, according to a data cited in an industry submission to TRAI.

As traditional distribution faces pressure, newer models such as FAST and application-based linear television are becoming part of the industry's next distribution conversation.

CTV is creating a more fragmented value chain:

That's where the next CTV opportunity becomes interesting. As fragmentation creates friction between content and discovery, inventory and demand, audiences and measurement, and ultimately between viewing and monetization.

Only the platform that reduces that friction may create more value than those simply controlling one gateway.

How Swift TV & TGM becomes helpful?

Swift TV + TGM creating that eco-space where -

Swift TV operates as a FAST/CTV distribution layer, bringing curated linear channels and on-demand content to audiences across connected devices. Its ad-supported model also creates a route for brands to access these audiences through contextual, programmatic CTV inventory.

TGM adds the programmatic advertising infrastructure around that ecosystem, creating additional monetisation opportunities for content and distribution.

In practical terms, the value is not simply in putting another channel on another screen. It is in connecting content distribution with addressable advertising demand.

For content owners and publishers, this can mean an additional distribution and monetisation route without requiring them to build the entire CTV technology and advertising infrastructure themselves.

For advertisers, it creates access to a FAST environment where television-style viewing can be approached through a more digital, programmatic framework.

That is the ecosystem advantage: Swift helps create the viewing and inventory environment; TGM helps connect that environment to the programmatic advertising opportunity.

Neither layer needs to own the TV OS to participate in the value chain.

The opportunity lies in making those layers work together.

The strategic question for CTV:

"It's not that serious of a concern about who owns the TV OS?"
But most importantly an impactful one is:
"Who can make the entire connected-TV ecosystem work better together?"

Because owning the door is valuable.
But reducing the friction behind it could be where the bigger opportunity lies.
